Summer readin' with the kids
It’s that time of year: everyone’s going on vacation. Scarlett and her family and Laura and her daughter are probably going to Ocean City, Maryland. Kelly’s sightseeing in DC and nearby areas for a couple more weeks with her husband and daughter. Everyone needs books to keep the kids occupied on the car drive or airplane trip. Here are 6 used, cheap books.
Meet Kirsten is historical fiction from American Girl. American Girl is famous for their engaging books that keep kids in the 8-11 age range occupied. Kirsten is a pioneer girl living in circa 1824 America. As a kid, I remember loving the American Girl books.
I Am Albert Einstein is a thin biography for kids in the 7-10 age range. It talks a bit about the famous scientist.
Broken Dolls by Tyrolin Puxty would be great as middle grade or YA. It’s about a ballerina doll named Ella. It’s edgy enough for teens, but not too edgy for kids in grade 3-6, and has a surprise ending.
The Beginning of Katie and the Cupcake Cure is a little sad, but it brightens up soon enough when the main character, Katie, makes some new friends at school. Also, there's cupcakes.
